PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION
Cable sheath faults are mainly caused by damage to the outer sheath of cables. This normally happens when the cable is installed. When water penetrates the outer protective sheath it will start to degrade the main insulation system over time which will cause cable failure. The instrument works in conjunction with a suitable pulse generator, which picks up and amplifies the pool of potential leaking around the fault.
