Greg Sims
Director

With over 40 years experience in the Electrical and Mining Industry Greg Sims has a life dedicated to fault location and high voltage cable repairs.

Greg began as an apprentice with BHP Port Kembla (1965) and Titan Manufacturing (1970). In 1976, he established Titan manufacturing Lithgow on behalf of BHP, managing the overhaul of equipment and a cable repair shop.

In 1985, he started his own cable repair workshops, Lithgow Cable Repairs (1985) and Illawarra Cable Services (1989) which he ran with much success until 2005 when he sold them to Ampcontrol with continue to this day.

After working various contract roles within the industry, Greg founded Mireta Pty Ltd (2016) selling, training, repairing and manufacturing high voltage electrical and mining equipment.

On being appointed sole Australian distributor of Adret products Greg founded Ganda Pty Ltd (2021) and continues his passion for delivering electrical solutions to the power and mining industries.

Richard (Ric) Macey
CEI UK Electrical Engineer

Ric Macey is an Electrical Engineer, Inventor, Pilot, Entrepreneur and Adventurer. Over his illustrious career he has started and managed several significant electrical fault detection, repair and manufacturing businesses.

Richard was ‘Apprentice of the Year’ in 1965 as a Electrical Fitter and Mechanic. Following a few years working as a Power Station Operator - Wangi Power Station, he founded Maceys Cable Repairs (1970) and Maceys Electrical Accessories (1971), before establishing Rutherford Cable Repairs (1981) which specialized in high voltage testing, fault location and repair services. Rutherford Cable Repairs expanded nationally and internationally with the creation of RSA Electrical Cable Services in Springs, South Africa (1985) and Queensland Cable Services in Emerald (1987). Rutherford Power’s Project Division (1993) at Tomago, NSW was established to refurbish and overhaul a fleet of transformers, substations and mining equipment. As well as design and manufacture turnkey electrical packages for mining contractors. Rutherford Filtration (1994) was created to carry out onsite overhauls of power transformers, including oil purification and oil regeneration.

Richard founded ISMAC-Rutherford (1995) in India, and provided high voltage testing, fault location and repair services. This project also included overhauling and non-flameproof equipment in Bihar, India. Queensland Electrical Engineering Services, Brisbane (1996) was created to provide and sell high voltage test and fault location equipment to Queensland.

In 1998, Ric partnered with his brother Laurie Macey at New Macey to develop waterproof and flameproof mining couplers. However, the product translated perfectly into the railway industry, fitting the same couplers to Countrylink, Explorers and Endeavour trains throughout Australia.

During this time, Richard was involved with various other ventures including; the design and manufacture of the RTV1200 motorcycle (1997), the building of the ‘Angelina’ 2-20 metre displacement open water cruiser (1994), as well being the Australian National RC model Helicopter Champion (1985). In 2000, he also participated in the London to Sydney Marathon (2000) driving a Ford Falcon and completing 16,500 km in 32 days. Ric also had a business importing of Royal Enfield Motorcycles (2000).

Adam Sims
Managing Director

Managing Director Adam Sims has extensive experience in international logistics, business administration and customer experience. 

Having been raised in and around the cable shops and coal mines of regional NSW, Adam pursued a career in the pristine white spaces of museums and art galleries (not that there is any connection between these two).

For the last 25 years he has been the Manager and Director of several leading commercial art galleries both nationally and internationally. These roles included; Curatorial Director - Liverpool Street Gallery, Director of Galleries - Michael Reid (Sydney/Berlin), Gallery Manager - New Albion Gallery, Sales Director - Savill Galleries, Gallery Manager - Kaliman Gallery.

Adam holds a degree in Philosophy and Art History & Theory (BA Hons 1st Class) from The University of Sydney and has forged a respected career in the Australian art world. He has lectured on Professional Practice at University level and has held various roles at the following institutions and projects; Artworld Magazine, Art Month Sydney, Watters Gallery, Sherman Galleries and the Schaeffer Fine Arts Library and the University of Sydney’s Image Library.

Adam’s appointment as Managing Director is a long term commitment to our clients. Ganda Pty Ltd is a family run and owned business.
