PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION
Partial Break detectors are used to detect partial breaks in mining trailing cable conductors.
The cable under test is fed through a suitable cable hammer, which vibrates the cable during the feeding operation.
Conductor breaks will make partial contact during the vibration cycle and produce a signal.
This signal is detected, amplified and converted into an audible signal, which is fed to a headphone set, where it can be clearly heard by the operator.
Breaks as low as 10% can easily be detected through this method.
