Adret CI75
SAFETY DEVICE

Power cable jointing technicians are often faced with the problem of having to cut into existing live cables in order to expand their existing networks. The CI75 was designed to facilitate the positive identification of one disconnected power cable from a bundle. It will, when used correctly positively and safely identify one specific cable. It is very simple to operate and will give perfect results time after time.

PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION

The unit uses a crystal controlled sine wave as a basis on both the transmitter and receiver of 625Hz. The signal is transmitted into the cable by directly connecting it to two of the cores on the cable to be identified. The far end of the cable should be disconnected and the same two cores short circuited.

The unit will also function when the far end of the cable is put into earth using the switchgear. The signal is then picked up by the antenna and its signal strength displayed through the analog meter on the panel.

The application of the instrument is very simple and very low levels of skills are needed for successful positive cable identification.
